Sandycove Community Fundraisers - 2010
SPECIAL - SANDYCOVE residents annually hold many charitable events and the largest and most successful of these is held every June at the WHEEL by the Sandycove Community Fundraisers Group. About 150 people comprise the numerous "Teams" that put together displays over a period of a couple of months and then on one final weekend in June have a monstrous sale. All proceeds go towards the Royal Victoria Hospital Simcoe Muskoka Regional Cancer Centre. This year a cheques was presented to the amount of $6,525.00. Over the last couple of years the group has now raised $36,200 towards this cause.

The Provincial
ALL CANDIDATES MEETING
was held Saturday September 17th
at the Wheel with about 75 people in attendance. We heard the various
platforms
from the 3 primary party candidates. (shown from r-l) Julia Munro (incumbent -
Conservatives), Gloria Reszler (Liberals) and Megan Tay (NDP) each made brief
presentations. A specific question regarding the health care issues
in Sandycove was asked by John Bicknell, President of the host Home Owners
Association. The meeting was then opened to the floor for questions with
numerous
residents coming forward including Town Councilor Maria Baier with more
questions about the heath care issues of Sandycove. We thank everyone for
attending as Sandycove is usually a favourite all candidate meeting for most
politicians to attend during election campaigns.
